Southview Methodist Men meeting minutes for  Jan. 16^th, 2007

Attending: (12)                                     Meeting opened approximately 7:30pm

1.      Meeting minutes from Oct 2006 were approved.

2.      Financial report from Peyton Hash was given. Balance was $2754.83

Peyton reported one check to the Baptist home had been outstanding for

such a long time, it was thought to be lost.

There was a motion by D. Bailey to rewrite the check and seconded by Peyton. The amount was $25.

3.      There was discussion about providing dinner to W.End  Trinity Church for

 Jan. 18^{th .}   David and Alda Bower volunteered to deliver the meal.

4.      Letters of thanks included one from Teen Challenge for $500 and another from

Friends of Barnabas for $250.

5.      Chicken barbeque ;

a.      Date is set for June 2^nd

b.      Price is set at $6.00

c.      Tickets to be mostly pre sold.

d.      Ticket qty is set at (400) for now

e.      Date to begin sales is Apr. 1^st

Still need someone to be in charge of barbeque.

6.      For Easter sunrise; D. Shaffer volunteered to shop for supplies. Ike Carper also to help. Will call SAMS mgr. to check on tax exemption requirements.

7.      Jeff Wilson will be doing a pancake dinner with the youth on Feb 20^th.

Meeting time will start directly after the dinner which begins at 6:30pm.

8.      Golf tournament ; Marv Willis to meet with Marv Gilliam to discuss possibility of

of having a golf tournament this summer.  More discussion to follow at the Feb. meeting. League of Older Americans was the most favored charity choice at the present time.

9.      Marv Gilliam mentioned that there are tentative plans to have a mission trip later in the year; where and when to be determined.

10.  No further business for the evening; meeting was adjourned at 8:15pm.
